A friend of mine who does 200 dates a year says this song is a road song, "It ain't over till the last song is sung." Guess he's right, but I think it's really for anyone who is on the road, via plane, train, pickup, or greyhound.

Lyrics

Took a train into the city. Hopped a cab down to 42nd. Felt like a Boy Scout. On the plane home, writin' words down every second.

It ain't over till it's over. It ain't over till the song is sung. It ain't over till it's over. It ain't over till the last song's sung.

Took a Greyhound down to Macon. Went to Momma's for cheese grits and bacon. Saw a Brother with a gold guitar, I turned around for a second and he was gone.

Bought a truck at a gas station. 500 bucks, that's a deal mister. Picked up a hitch hiker with nowhere to go and an outlaw station on my radio.

I know a place called the Red Guitar. See 'em standin' on the sidewalk starin' on the stars. Seein' something cool. Somethin' pretty. Somethin' sweet. Somethin' sweaty. Somethin' hot, Somethin' not. Everybody knows they got a band that rocks.

It ain't over till it's over. It ain't over till the song is sung. It ain't over till it's over. It ain't over till the last song's sung.
It ain't over, till it's over. It ain't over till the last song's sung.
